1.
Assessment
Assessments are essential in identifying the specific strengths and areas of need that a child or young person may have in relation to their speech, language and communication.
2.
Therapy Sessions
Speech and Language Therapy sessions take place in an appropriate setting and focus on targets and advice given following assessment. They can be one off demonstration or review sessions or regular blocks of therapy followed by brief consolidation breaks.
3.
EHCP Assessments
Many children and young people require additional support and funding to support their needs in education settings. This is outlined in a document called an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Children who have SLCN may require specific advice and provision provided by a Speech and Language Therapist that can then be added to their EHCP.
4.
Additional/ Other Services
Speech and Language Therapists may be able to provide other support services such as second opinions, specific communication tools and resources (e.g. communication books or other visual supports), setting visits, or simply even additional advice and support to help you better understand any previous speech and language advice given.
