Welcome to Communican Speech and Language Therapy!

My name is Rachel. I am a HCPC and RCSLT registered Independent Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist with experience working both in the NHS and in a range of settings within the private sector.

I am incredibly passionate about Speech and Language Therapy and the impact that it has on children/young people and their families' lives.

Whilst I love and have experience working with all speech, language and communication needs, my main interests are Autism (also known as Autistic Spectrum Condition/ASC or Autistic Spectrum Disorder/ASD), Learning Disabilities, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, Preschool Language Development, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Areas I cover

I am based near Bromsgrove and I primarily cover the areas highlighted in the red circle above. I am willing to travel further afield at additional cost.

Additional Information:

I have a diagnosis of ADHD. Whilst this has an impact on certain aspects of life that others may not even think twice about, it also gives me first hand experience in knowing what it is like to be neurodiverse. I use this experience to inform my practice and ensure that the approaches I use are neurodiversity-affirming. The goals I set focus on embracing difference, adapting the environment (including the way those around the child view their strengths and needs), and providing the tools they need to communicate, including those that are not focussed/reliant on oral speech (AAC). I DO NOT support or use any approaches that focus on 'fixing' the child  or encouraging them to hide (mask) their neurodiversity.
